Well, it's been just over two years since official trailbuilding started in Bristol. Ashton Court has had major repairs (several times over for some bits), the re-route of 50 Acre Wood has now been completed, and it seems like a good time to review the work we've done, and start planning what to do next! We're still going to be patching up the Timberland Trail when necessary, but it would be nice to break out into new territory and adopt an established unofficial trail, or build an entirely new one.
If you have an opinion about the trails come along to the Colisseum pub, opposite St Mary Redcliffe, on Thursday 25th January, for about 7.30-ish. It's a big pub(about 30 or 40 people came to the last meeting there) and there is secure bike storage.
I want to hear people's suggestions and comments on the work that has been done and what they would like the group to do next. We will pass these comments on to the land managers at our next meeting with them, and plan our next project accordingly.
It's tonight! Come along and have your say!
If you can't make it tonight there will be a full summary on the forum and you can add your comments, opinions and rants.
It was an interesting meeting and I'll attempt to summarise what was discussed in a bit more depth over the weekend. A lot of the people there reckoned we should try and get an official, all weather trail sorted in Leigh Woods, which I'll definitely bring up at the next meeting with the powers that be. There also seems to be some enthusiasm for building more trails in 50 Acre Wood. It's all very much at the drawing board stage at the moment but it looks like being a busy year for trail building.
